Optimisation of parameters for the flash welding of mill heat treated rail (RR-MF-11)

British Steel Track Products have installed a computer controlled on-line cooling facility which is capable of cooling the head of pearlitic rail steels at a rate that is sufficient to produce a very fine pearlitic microstructure without the formation of brittle low temperature transformation products such as bainite or martensite.
