Track circuits study: Interference tests (TM-SIG-4)

Replacement of jointed track by continuous welded rails has the advantage of providing an improved ride as well as reduced wear and fatigue in locomotives, rolling stock and track. However, DC and low frequency AC track circuits require insulated joints in the running rails to define the track circuit boundaries.
