Regeneration tests at Shepperton using Class 455 chopper Unit No. 5912 (TM-VS-29)

A computer program was developed by Birmingham University to simulate train movements and calculate the energy consumption on a dc third rail system. The simulation was used to calculate energy savings possible by using chopper controlled dc motors instead of the conventional rheostatically controlled dc motors to power the trains.
