The high voltage insulator test facilities at Derby (TN-ETR-16)

Two insulator testing facilities have been commissioned at Derby with the aim of determining the best high voltage insulating materials for use on the railways. Taken separately they offer an invaluable service to the railways but together they provide a unique testing ground in this country for 25 kV insulators.
