Among current ideas for monolithic crossing construction, are cast, forged or machined centre blocks with welded on legs. The centre blocks may be of cast manganese, bainitic or naturally hard steel (e.g. UIC B), whilst the legs may be of rolled manganese, bainitic or normal quality rail steel. ...
