Stresses in bridges tests made on Tay Bridge (E-306)

The High Girder Spans of this bridge are 241 ft. effective length. Each is of through type; main girders are hog-backed double N pattern trusses. Deep transverse diaphragms are provided above the loading clearance. The deck, carrying two ballasted tracks, consists of built up transverse troughing.
