Bridge No.274. at Elvanfoot on the Scottish Region was selected for testing in connection with the statistical investigation of bridge stresses. It is most desirable that any statistical comparison between stresses measured under typical service conditions with theoretical stresses should be based on a sound analysis of the latter.
