Rehearsal Versus map study as preparation for a flight navigation exercise

An experiment was conducted via the use of a flight simulator in order to assess the effectiveness of different ways of preparing pilots for a navigation exercise. Participants were taught either by guided rehearsal, unguided rehearsal or by map study. Participants subsequently completed a route-following exercise in the simulated environment.
