Understanding of mental workload in the railways

This chapter looks at developing an understanding of mental workload in the railways. It gives more detail on the development of signalling workload tools in particular. It discusses the requirements for rail workload assessment, the nature of mental workload, different measurement approaches and different signalling workload assessment tools.
