A quantitative model of work-related fatigue: Background and definition

The need for an applied (mathematical) modelling approach for estimating work-related fatigue in situ is highlighted. It is suggested that such a method would improve shiftwork management and assist in the evaluation of potential rosters. The paper describes the development of an initial framework for such a model.
