A review of the use of geosynthetics in modern track substructure

Using the British experience, this paper outlines the different ways in which geosynthetics have been used in railway track substructure and discusses the successes and failures of the various applications. Some past and recent researches carried out into the use of geosynthetics in track substructure are also presented and discussed.
