Challenges when assessing masonry retaining walls on the railways

The aim of this paper is to investigate possible ways of rapidly scanning the condition of masonry retaining walls, in order to: • assess the retaining wall with respect to its thickness and variation of the wall structure. • identify the condition of the masonry retaining wall itself.
