The Climate Change Act, enacted by Parliament in 2008, provides a legal framework for ensuring that the UK Government meets its commitments to tackle climate change. The Act introduces legally binding carbon budgets, which set a ceiling on the levels of greenhouse gases that can be emitted into the atmosphere.
