How do Non-Technical Skills Fit with Route Knowledge?

Route knowledge underpins and supports many technical tasks that drivers and guards undertake.  Non-technical skills (NTS) also underpin and support those tasks.  It can therefore be helpful to embed NTS into your route knowledge competence process, enabling your staff to use route knowledge and NTS together.  You can decide how to embed NTS into the competence process when you make your route learning plan.

You can start either by thinking about the person, or the task they are doing.
