Geo-Referenced Safety Risk Model

The Geo-referenced Safety Risk Model (GeoSRM) builds on the well-established Safety Risk Model, providing localised risk estimates for individual 10m-sections of track taking into consideration local features such as bridges, points and train speeds. Access to this tool and resources is only to support the research project T972.

For the pilot GeoSRM operations within the Wessex route have been modelled for three hazardous events: passenger slips, trips and falls at stations; suicides from being struck by a train; and derailments. The risk estimates from the model have been plotted onto a map to show how the risk from these three hazardous events is distributed geospatially across Wessex.
