    Occupational Health Advisory Group

The Occupational Health Advisory Group is a specialist leadership group supporting the development and effective implementation of best practice for rail occupational health. The group works collaboratively with the industry to bring together those providing clinical occupational health, strategic stakeholders in rail occupational health and wellbeing, and those who commission and use occupational health.

    Scope

The Occupational Health Advisory Group (OHAG) promotes collaboration between occupational health professionals and the industry on occupational health and wellbeing issues relating to medical fitness for work standards. The group focusses on both reducing risks to health from work and on the wider effects of health on work.

OHAG will provide leadership and support to industry in response to emerging issues and critical incidents. However, OHAG will not perform a case management role or provide clinical, professional or management advice to duty-holders, employers or other industry bodies or groups relating to or in response to individual incidents or accidents.

    OHAG’s objectives are to:

    • Communicate evidence based occupational health (OH) resources
    • Support development of OH training for practitioners
    • Support commissioning of OH services
    • Support with compliance through an audit framework
OHAG reports directly to the Rail Wellbeing Alliance. The group produces a summary of the ‘Top 5 Key Messages’ every quarter, which highlights the key work that has been delivered or is underway. This can be downloaded from the resources section of this page.

If you have any questions or wish to contact the group, please email: Health&Wellbeing@rssb.co.uk.

You can download a range resources from our occupational health topic hub.

    Message from the chair

OHAG drives professional development and education for OH professionals.  We are working to minimise occupational health risks from railway work, and to share best practice and learning around these risks for the benefit of the rail industry. We support improvement in the competence for UK rail’s OH workforce, helping to future-proof the our knowledgeable and experienced OH clinical staff.
