ADHERE 2021 Webinar Series
Hear the latest research into preventing and mitigating low wheel-rail adhesion with our 2021 series of webinars.
ADHERE—a programme of research into improving wheel-rail adhesion—has continued over the last year, despite the restrictions and challenges posed by COVID-19.
Following 2020’s successful series of webinars, the 2021 webinar series provided the latest findings from the ADHERE programme, as well as information on wider industry activities.
Low adhesion at the wheel-rail interface leads to safety issues and affects performance. While it has major effects during autumn, it is a problem that can be encountered throughout the year. The direct costs of low adhesion to the industry and wider society are estimated to be in the region of £355m per autumn.
What is ADHERE?
ADHERE (ADHEsion REsearch challenge) is a cross-industry research programme, which aims to deliver new insights to achieve ‘adhesion conditions that are unaffected by and independent of the weather and climate’.
