Keeping Lone Workers Safe and Secure

The health and safety aspects of lone working are understood, but issues around personal security are less well known. How can the rail industry prevent violent assaults?

Our research gives organisations the opportunity to re-visit guidance on legal obligations to employees that work alone; and to re-consider approaches to incident prevention and risk management. Successful risk reduction measures are diverse and vary according to workers’ roles.  They include improved liaison with the police; improved reporting systems and communications technology; and one-to-one discussions that give employees the chance to talk about concerns.
