Review of the usage of chemicals in the managment of low adhesion

Over a period of many years chemical materials of various types have been put forward as remedial treatments for occurrences of low wheel/rail adhesion. In the main these have been unsuccessful and to date no one product has shown itself to be universally useful in the management of low adhesion.
