In 2022–2023 in the UK, more than 35 million workdays were lost due to work-related ill-health or a work-related injury. These absences have a huge impact on the UK economy. Achieving ISO 45001 is  one way we’re showing our dedication to occupational health and safety.

ISO 45001 sets out what’s needed for an occupational health and safety management system. It helps companies manage risks and improve their overall health and safety performance. The standard does this by outlining the steps needed to set goals, take action, and run regular audits.

This will strengthen how we assess risks, spot hazards, plan for emergencies, and investigate incidents. In particular, ISO 45001 uses the ‘Plan-Do-Check-Act’ system to manage health and safety risks in a methodical way. This is key for reducing the risk of workplace accidents.

We believe nobody should be at risk at work, and we’re committed to making that a reality at RSSB. We work hard to ensure our colleagues feel safe and happy. This is key to retaining our world-class talent and delivering the best for our customers.

Here are some of the benefits of ISO 45001 for RSSB:

  • It provides a framework to manage occupational health and safety risks.
  • It can reduce the odds of workplace incidents and injuries.
  • It shows commitment to worker health and safety.
  • It ensures compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
  • It boosts our organisation’s resilience.
  • It means we’re able to continually strengthen our efforts in this area.
