occupational-health-wellbeing-plus-award-1000x500

The Occupational Health and Wellbeing Plus Awards recognise leaders in workplace mental health support. Professional HR company Personnel Today facilitates these awards.

The HWI was jointly created by health economists and RSSB. It helps organisations determine the impact of health- and wellbeing-related risks to staff and compare health-based investment decisions. This gives them an objective measurement. It also allows them to see how health compares with other budget considerations.

The Rail Wellbeing Alliance, the Department for Transport, and the Office of Rail and Road were all involved in the creation of the HWI.

The HWI is based on the same concept as the Fatalities and Weighted Injuries Index. This means it can produce a ‘single measure of the health and wellbeing of your employees’. Network Rail, VolkerRail, and many others in the industry are already making good use of the award-winning HWI. We hope it forms a solid foundation across rail to inform the sector about its people’s overall health and wellbeing.

According to the judges, ‘the creation of the index illustrates how, by working together, the rail industry has brought a new focus to health and wellbeing, one that, I am sure, will bring considerable long-term dividends.’

We’re honoured that our HWI has been recognised in this way. We hope that its capabilities keep driving meaningful improvement in occupational health and wellbeing among rail employees.
