The Influence of the Station Environment and Train Design on Passenger Experience

In 2019 1.8 billion train journeys were made in the UK. Every one of those journeys will have been influenced by the station environment in some way. 

When designing a new station, changing parts of an existing one, or considering how to manage the station differently it is important to consider the effects of the station environment on passenger behaviour. The station environment should be designed and managed to help passengers meet their travel objectives. At the same time station design must accommodate for a variety of people with different levels of risk awareness and effectively manage passenger flows, keeping them safe and operations running smoothly.
