Community rail is a well-established grassroots movement; working with and supported by the rail industry to involve communities and deliver wide-ranging initiatives that bring social, economic and environmental benefits to local communities.

While much activity in community rail is based around local relationships, the industry needs a defined centre of expertise to establish consistent good practice. Key to this will be collaboration and alignment with local authorities and regional transport bodies.
