Competition to improve adhesion forecasting technology

RSSB is launching a competition to fund a selection of feasibility studies to improve adhesion forecasting technology on the railway.

The £300,000 call for research will develop novel ideas and innovative solutions to help the rail industry improve its ability to predict and manage the problem of poor adhesion on the tracks.

The competition is open to academics, rail specialists, weather experts and data scientists including innovative organisations and private enterprises who can help advance cutting edge forecasting technology.

A collection of datasets will also be made available online to help tackle the challenge.
