RSSB and JR-Central set to improve two industries
Featured story

Japanese Railway – Central (JR-Central) has seconded one of its engineers to RSSB, allowing cross-industry learning, cooperation and improvements.

JR-Central’s Mr Yu Kakurai is joining the RSSB rolling stock engineering team for six months until June 2017. Mr Kakurai has almost a decade’s engineering experience at Japan’s famous high speed railway network, the Shinkansen.

Mr Kakurai’s expertise will be used in the development of rules and standards governing the GB rail industry. His experience of Japanese railway engineering and operations will provide an alternative input to research activities, standards and guidance notes for rolling stock here in the UK.

Whilst at RSSB, Mr Kakurai will be introduced to the process for creating, amending and improving standards that has made the GB rail network so safe, with no fatality caused by a train crash for almost a decade.

JR-Central is an RSSB partner. The two organisations share best practice across a range of fields, allowing the industry in both countries to remain at the cutting edge of their fields.
