RSSB’s Rule Book App is now available for rail staff using mobiles and tablets on the Android platform.
Interest is growing in the new app following successful trials earlier in the year, and with the app now available on both Android and iOS, more RSSB members will now be in a position to try it out.
The 120,000 rail staff responsible for operating and maintaining Britain’s railways use the Rule Book as an essential reference, as it sets out clear instructions that must be followed in certain safety critical scenarios.
The app offers staff a more modern alternative to paper copies, with improved usability, better cross document search functionality, intuitive navigation and responsive design. Content can be accessed even when offline and updates are made automatically on acknowledging a notification to the device.
RSSB’s Professional Head of Rail Operations, Gary Portsmouth said, We are seeing a lot of interest from our members in trying out the app. Network Rail and train and freight operators have been at the heart of this work, and now they’re in a position to try the app out with their teams on either Apple or Android mobile devices.
Currently, the app is exclusively available to RSSB members under licence. If you’re the lead decision maker in this area or have a say in the way your teams use the Rule Book, and you’re interested in adopting the app, further information on the app is available here
