Safety briefing: obstructions on the line
Featured story

Guidance for train drivers and other operational staff how to respond to obstructions on the line, particularly the hazard caused by large animals are the topic for the latest safety briefing DVD.

The importance of having good communications and the consequences of not following best practice are covered in the latest 'RED' safety briefing DVD which looks at the procedures to follow when dealing with large animals on the line.

The programme also covers the latest research to help rail companies do better briefing of train drivers when routes see substantial changes, and to improve investigations into signals passed at danger (SPADs).

Available only to RSSB member companies, RED combines rail safety issues with compelling drama and special effects to help brief operational staff, and to encourage open discussion about the issues they're facing.
