The scope of the Aerodynamics GB Working Group covers issues relating to aerodynamics. It covers the following areas of work:All matters of relevance and interest to the railway industry in the field of aerodynamics (the effects of a train moving through the air) including wind and wind loading.
Acting as the RSSB stakeholder group within the rail industry to commission and co-ordinate research and development in aerodynamics in accordance with the Infrastructure Topic Research Plan, Area 7 Aerodynamics.
To support the implementation of aerodynamics in standards through the provision of expert advice to the Infrastructure and Rolling Stock Standards Committees. Minutes of the working group and its outputs are discussed at both the Infrastructure and Rolling Stock Standards Committees and also at the Freight Technical Committee. The group reports to both the Infrastructure and Rolling Stock Standards Committees. The working group may also report to the Vehicle/Structures System Interface Committee on matters of aerodynamic research. Expertise areas covered are all aspects of railway aerodynamics in the open air and in tunnels, European standards, and TSIs.
