Case study: Reading Elevated Railway Value Engineering

In 2011, work started on an £850 million redevelopment project to improve capacity at Reading station. A value engineering exercise was undertaken to streamline the design and define solutions which reduced embodied carbon and overall construction costs. This resulted in a 42.4% reduction in embodied carbon.
