RED 38 - Emergency Action?

RED 38 features a hard-hitting drama inspired by a real incident in which a track worker was struck by a train.

The dramatisation contrasts the instinctive reactions of a motorist to an emergency with those of a train driver and asks whether staff throughout the industry have the confidence to act quickly and decisively when they perceive an emergency developing.

A second reconstruction, illustrated by animated graphics, shows how a communications mix-up led to a potential head-on collision near Elephant and Castle.

The programme also includes reports on trials of automatically-triggered GSM-R broadcasts to moving trains and an update on the New Approach project to simplify the Rule Book.
