This RED looks at how we can influence passenger behaviour. It is based on incidents at Kentish Town (2011) and Hither Green (2013). Passengers become increasingly anxious as smoke fills their carriage and proceed to detrain onto the running line.
In part two, we look at how Southern Railway tackled the problem of stop short door releases by creating an effective awareness campaign. We also cover a recent away day exercise designed to test the co-ordination of many different responders to a serious incident that required a controlled passenger evacuation.
