Our latest Right Track has something for the whole railway family.

I’ve always thought railways were about families. Sometimes it’s literally true: I’m ‘on the railway’, both my grandfathers were ‘inside’ Swindon Works, while my great uncle was the station master at Powerstock in the 1920s. Yet when we join this industry, we join a bigger family, one which must work together if a single train is to move. In Right Track 35, we have something for all that family.

Among other things, we feature new training methods, take another look at looking out for signals, consider the changing seasons, and show how changing technology can bring danger if we’re not careful.

Talking of change, we’re starting a new series called ‘Corporate Memory Matters’…because it does, and because we need to remember why a change was made in the past so we don’t reverse a decision made for good reasons. This time, it’s the Morpeth derailment of 1969, an incident that led us to use the Automatic Warning System to mark speed restrictions.

If you’re on the railway’s front line, Right Track is for you. Let us know what you like, what you don’t, what you’d like to see more of, and what you never want to see again. After all, we’re in this together… #railwayfamily
