Lineside Operational Signs - Product Requirements

Synopsis

This document sets of the requirements of lineside operational signs that support technical compatibility with rail vehicle exterior lighting and windscreens.

Summary Of Changes

The requirements in GIRT7033 have been reviewed and updated to reflect the permitted scope of NTRs. The specified font is revised to recognise that ‘New Rail Alphabet’ is a commercially available product. The specification of retroreflective performance is revised to apply to material that uses micro-prismatic technology as well as glass-bead technology. The specification of retroreflective colours and non-retroreflective colours is revised to align with the European standard. The specified shapes of signs is revised to be consistent with existing good practice. Two new requirements cover the specification of the number of image elements and the arrangement of symbols that comprise a sign image. The redrafted, revised and new content is intended to be easier to understand, which should reduce the likelihood of misinterpretation and misuse.

11/11/2022 - CCS SC agreed 12m review recommendation for a point release.
