Depot Sidings Safety Surveys
26/11/2020
The M&EE Networking Group have looked at the operational risks and hazards associated with stabling, disposal and maintenance of OTM and engineering trains in Network Rail allocated stabling locations. Based on this work, Siding Safety Surveys (SSS) were produced.
The SSS are designed so that staff who need to visit the location (to conduct train preparation, maintenance or other activities) have a site induction that identifies the location and any potential operational risks. Although they have been designed to meet OTM operational requirements, SSS can be used by other railway operators. However, the end user is responsible for ensuring their accuracy and that they meet their own task requirements. Where an infrastructure manager or site owner has mandated its own location safety requirements, they must be applied in conjunction with any task specific requirements from the SSS.
