The Sustainable Rail Strategy (SRS) will be the first industry-wide sustainability strategy. The strategy is being co-created and facilitated by RSSB through involvement with the industry and overseen by Department for Transport.
The SRS will align with existing rail organisation strategies and highlight existing commitments. It will provide a strategic framework for delivering on the sustainability objective set by the government in the Whole Industry Strategic Plan.

This SRS Prototype is a vital stepping stone towards a definitive whole-industry strategy for sustainable rail, across both environmental and social topics. It is intended to deliver clear, strategic sustainability guidance and a framework for alignment across the rail industry, showing where industry action is required if ambitions are to be realised.
