Watch RED 62 - Asset Integrity

Featured story
Our latest episode of RED looks at asset integrity – both infrastructure and rolling stock – the risks involved and how they can be averted.

On 10 May 2002, a passenger train derailed on defective points near Potters Bar station. Six passengers were killed, along with a pedestrian on the road below, who was struck by debris falling from an underbridge.

Points, trains and bridges are all assets, but so is almost everything on the railway – including the departures board, the signals and the seats in the carriages. RED 62 explains how all these elements link into a system and what the rail industry does to ensure asset integrity, and avert train accident risk.

Available to members and affiliates, our RED videos provide the rail workforce with awareness on a range of safety issues, to help reduce operational risk. Each episode conveys safety messages about railway operations with an emphasis on key learning points. RED is used in safety briefings and training sessions across the industry.
