SPAD Data Insights
18/09/2020
At the end of March 2020, the annual number of SPADs was the highest it had been for 15 years. In response, RSSB’s data insights team analysed data from various sources to understand the possible causes of this rise and to inform SPAD risk management going forward.
The SPAD analysis made use of the data available to RSSB from the Safety Management Intelligence System (SMIS), the SPAD risk ranking tool, the RAATS Toolkit, and additional information from our members. The overall objective was to identify potential explanations for the increase seen in SPAD numbers.
