Rule Book App

09/12/2024
Get 24/7 access to the Rule Book via your phone, tablet, desktop, or laptop with the RSSB Rule Book app. It’s easy to use, search, personalise, and update. And you can Acknowledge Amendments with one touch.

What is the Rule Book app?

The Rule Book has sets of clear instructions that rail staff must follow in certain safety-critical scenarios in railway operations.

You’ll use the Rule Book if you or your teams:

  • work on the track, trains, platforms, railway work sites, or possessions
  • drive, shunt, or signal trains.

Our updated and improved app gives you access to the Rule Book 24/7, making it easier to consult when you’re on the go.

It provides a smooth user experience, with auto-sync and download features reflecting the latest changes. And with improved continuity, you can continue reading where you left off. Also, the app’s interactive images and optimised font sizes are designed with ease of use and accessibility in mind.

In addition, the app’s enhanced reporting capability for admin users allows them to view their dashboard and download all the latest analytics from across the company.

We’ve produced a set of short videos showing how to use the app. You can find those videos in the relevant sections below.

For individuals

If your organisation has signed up to the RSSB Rule Book app, you can access it anytime on your smartphone, tablet, desktop, or laptop by downloading and logging into the app.

The app is user-friendly, allowing for easy search, personalisation, and updates. Plus, you can acknowledge Amendments with just a single tap.

For decision-makers

If you’re a decision maker within an organisation, you can get more information about the app here.

"The Rule Book app has transformed the way you can store, carry, and search for items in the Rule Book, making it so much more accessible and easy to use. It has also allowed LNER to improve the management of rules changes, reducing the amount of paper we consume, therefore contributing to our carbon and waste targets, whilst also reducing our costs. An excellent industry improvement for all.”

Warrick Dent, Safety and Operations Director, LNER

Accessing the Rule Book app

Access to the app is exclusively available to organisations that have registered for its use. So, even though you can freely download the app, you won’t be able to log in or use its features unless your organisation has subscribed.

For organisations interested in the RSSB Rule Book app, please contact us.
