Scope

TEG’s areas of focus include aerodynamics, tunnel ventilation, pollution (air quality issues), thermal environment and cooling, fire safety and evacuation procedures, and issues related to tunnel asset management. It seeks to:

  • understand the relevant technical background relating to tunnel aerodynamics, fire safety, and evacuation
  • share and exchange expertise and experience
  • examine lessons learned from things that did not go to plan
  • maintain and develop knowledge base

identify any requirements for new research and source funding for implementation.This work enables the industry to understand issues, share and exchange information, examine lessons learned, maintain and develop its knowledge base, and identify requirements for new research.

Membership

TEG has members representing the following industry categories:

  • rolling stock owners and leasing companies
  • freight and other non-passenger train operator
  • infrastructure managers and owners
  • suppliers and rolling stock manufacturers
  • London Fire Brigade
  • RSSB.

TEG members act as the relevant industry group for the SRT Technical Specifications for Interoperability (TSI), advising on amendments of the SRT National Technical Specification Notices and having a watching brief on the TSI.
