Data & Information System Interface Committee

The Data and Information System Interface Committee (DISIC) was established to provide a focus for the governance, management, and exploitation of data, information and knowledge in a safe, cost effective and efficient manner. In doing this, it will support the data-related aims of industry strategies such as the Rail Technical Strategy (RTS), DfT’s Data Action Plan and GBR’s Integrated Data Strategy.
'DISIC provides a key focus for the railway industry’s data challenges. The work of the group supports increased data interoperability, which enables better data exploitation, leading to better decision-making. DISIC commissions research and other activity to support data interoperability and other key goals of relevant industry strategies.'
Scope
The DI SIC provides advice, expertise or support to the delivery of appropriate areas of the RTS and other relevant industry strategies and activities, including:
- development of the Rail Data Marketplace
- identification and promotion of opportunities to advance data interoperability and exploitation
- identification and recommendation of existing data standards and protocols for adoption by the rail industry
- identification and recommendation to develop new data standards and protocols for adoption by the rail industry
- sponsoring and acting as the industry client group for RSSB research.

The group's membership is made up of the following industry categories:
- passenger train operators
- freight and other non-passenger train operators
- infrastructure managers and owners, suppliers and rolling stock manufacturers
- rolling stock owners and leasing companies
- academia
- RSSB
- Connected Places Catapult
- Rail Delivery Group
- Department for Transport
- Office of Rail and Road.
