Risk and Safety Intelligence Updates - Period 2 2023-2024

In Period 2, the National Incident Statistics relating to train fires were presented at the 2023 Fire Forum Seminar. The second batch of the simplified SMIS forms, which incorporate improvements that can reduce the time it takes to enter data into SMIS, were deployed below budget and ahead of schedule. The discovery phase of the Continuation of SMIS project is nearly complete, with the final document being drafted by PA Consulting. The Risk and Safety Intelligence (RSI) team worked with Transport for Wales to understand its passenger accidents by undertaking analysis of passenger accident data in SMIS. The latest LHSBR webinar was held on depot workplace safety. RSI has also been providing training on bowtie risk modelling to MTR Corporation Limited, Hong Kong. Finally, RSI has supported the National Freight Risk Group in developing its freight integrated safety plan.
