Risk and Safety Intelligence Update - Period 13 2022-23

In Period 13, an estimate of the 2022 Value of Preventing a Fatality (VPF) has been calculated and published on RSSB’s website. RSSB represented GB rail at the UIC Safety Performance Group, presenting both the work being done on reducing trespassing and identifying and collating suicides and suspected suicides on the railway. The third round of the benchmarking exercise for the Health and Wellbeing Dashboard has been completed. The offline trial report for the implementation of the Whole System Risk Model (IMP-T1269) has been completed, along with the submission of an extended abstract on IMP-T1269 for the upcoming ESREL conference in September 2023. Both the Safety Risk Model interface and the second edition of the Spotlight on Safety video update by RSSB CEO Mark Phillips has been published on RSSB’s website. Finally, an industry data workshop was held on the conditions of freight vehicles on the network.
