RIS-1701-PLT Iss 5

This document sets out engineering requirements and guidance for non-railborne plant designed or adapted for railway use and also for other non-railborne plant intended for use in locations or circumstances where particular rail-specific risks must be managed.

Application of the document has been broadened from Network Rail to cover any infrastructure manager. Part two has been rationalised following the transfer of requirements for the product acceptance process to RIS-1710-PLT. Additional requirements and guidance have been incorporate from from LUL document S1174 'Non-Railborne Plant – Design and Acceptance'. All requirements now supported by rationale and updated guidance. The changes should have a positive impact on the procurement and assessment of these items of plant.
