Synopsis
This technical note sets out the relevant railway-specific legislation on noise and vibration. It will help familiarise organisations with their statutory duties to identify measures to mitigate against the effects of noise and vibration generated by railway activities affecting the health and wellbeing of employees, passengers and neighbouring communities.
Summary Of Changes
This technical note was produced to replace the withdrawn guidance GMGN2460 Guidance on Compliance with Noise and Vibration Legislation on hand-arm and whole-body vibration and noise.
It is applicable to:
- railway undertakings;
- vehicle* maintainers and manufacturers;
- constructors and maintainers of infrastructure and other fixed assets;
- occupational health practitioners and environmental noise specialist working in the railway industry; and
- those whose work may have noise or vibration impact on railway neighbours, including planning new or significant changes to the use of railway lines.
