A new code of practice for managing fatigue risk will help you understand the rail freight sector’s views on how fatigue risk should be managed. It has been collaboratively written by freight operating companies from across the GB rail industry. If you have responsibility for fatigue risk management in a freight organisation, this will help you in your collaborative efforts to reduce fatigue risk across the freight sector.

Organisations within the freight sector must operate flexibly to remain competitive with other sectors of the freight transport industry and to meet their customer needs. This flexibility can mean tiring work and challenging shift patterns. If not managed correctly, this can lead to fatigue, which can have dangerous consequences.
