What do you enjoy most about your current role?

“In a role like this, you should enjoy doing detailed project management, that’s what the role is at the end of the day. You should be prepared for some difficult times throughout the project because they don’t always run smoothly, and you’ll need to draw on your inner strength to overcome those times. At the same time, it is important to have the respect of those involved, especially external stakeholders. So, regardless of the situation, you should always show that you are confident in your abilities. ”

What are your possible career opportunities?

“I really enjoy all aspects of working in the rail sector as each company I’ve worked with is so diverse. So I plan to stay in my current role for the long term. ”

What skills have you developed at RSSB?

“A good foundation in railway knowledge and a passion for the rail industry. It doesn’t matter which role you start in, just engage with lots of people to build on this.

Building a good rapport and working relationships with stakeholder is essential to establishing a network of contacts which are key for my current role. By gaining respect and interacting at all levels I feel that I have positioned myself well for the future and can go to them with queries if I don’t understand something. Knowing and having the confidence to do this helps me deal with new projects, if in doubt ask. ”

Key achievements or career highlights at RSSB?

“I’ve had quite a few train cab rides and have also driven a few train simulators. These experiences have helped me understand the diverse group of people we work with and how we could improve the service we currently provide to our members. ”
