RSSB staff trek 15 miles for Railway Children
Setting off from Woolwich bright and early on Friday 7 October, they walked the 15-mile ‘Elizabeth line Rail Trail’ to London Paddington Rail Station, passing – and checking in at – the 31 Elizabeth line stations along the way.
The fundraising event, organised in partnership with TfL and MTR, formed part of Rail Aid 2022, a new initiative in support of charity Railway Children, which advocates for youngsters who live on the streets.
RSSB wasn’t the only rail industry organisation that took to the streets for what has been dubbed ‘the rail industry’s charity’. The Office of Rail and Road did too.
The Elizabeth line opened just a few months ago in May, improving capacity and accessibility, and reducing journey times. Experts across RSSB played a crucial role in helping Crossrail tackle the unique challenges it faced with this project. They also helped ensure the line connected with the national network on safety and standards. Find out more about RSSB’s involvement in this project.
