In recent years, the number of people cycling to railway stations has increased, with substantial investments made in improving facilities. Anecdotally, the socio-economic case for cycle rail, but a direct link between increased cycle-rail facilities and financial benefits was needed to encourage train operator investment and franchise commitments and to target resources.
