1. Mental Health Awareness at Work

This is a 55-minute interactive online course. It is designed to raise awareness of mental health and improve understanding of how mental health relates to our working lives. It will equip staff with tools that will help them to take care of themselves and support others more effectively.
By the end of this course delegates should:

  • Have an improved awareness of mental health and wellbeing, including common mental health problems.
  • Have an increased understanding of:
    o   the relation between mental health and our working lives
    o   workplace wellbeing and how to build resilience
    o   how to manage their own mental health at work and how to support others
    o   how stigma impacts on our mental health.
  • Be able to identify triggers in the workplace.

This course is suitable for all employees.

2. Managing Mental Health at Work

This is a 2-hour interactive online course. It is designed to increase line managers’ confidence around managing mental health issues in the workplace. It will equip line managers with tools and guidance to manage mental health at work more effectively. The course also aims to support managers to practice self-care while managing and supporting staff experiencing a mental health problem, and promotes best-practice approaches.

This course includes five short modules that managers can complete at their own pace.
By the end of this course, delegates should:

  • Have an improved awareness regarding why mental health matters and how to manage their own mental health.
  • Understand the principles of mental health at work and the legislation behind these.
  • Be familiar with the Rail Mental Health and Wellbeing Framework.
  • Have learnt how to:
    o   promote wellbeing within their team
    o   take stock of wellbeing at individual, team, and organisational levels
    o   tackle work-related causes of mental health problems
    o   recognise signs of poor mental health, support others and adjust employees’ work
    o   manage performance positively
    o   embed mental health into business as usual.
