Course overview

Developing mental health awareness amongst employees has been identified as one of six ‘mental health core standards’ in the government-commissioned Thriving at Work review by Dennis Stevenson and Paul Farmer.

The review concluded that providing the right training to employees equipped them with the knowledge to take care of themselves and those around them. This has positive implications on productivity and performance through potential reductions in absence, decreased staff turnover and less ‘presenteeism’.

This course has been carefully developed by chartered psychologists and leading mental health experts from the rail industry. It builds on cutting edge research to cover psychological risk factors experienced by the workforce. It will give you the skills and confidence to help look after your own health and support your colleagues.

This course is delivered as a one-day face-to-face training or remotely, in short modules.

The course focuses on:

  • Mental health and what can influence it
  • Taking care of yourself
  • Responding to signs and symptoms of mental ill-health
  • Starting a conversation about mental health
  • Support for people experiencing mental ill-health

Who should attend?

This course is relevant for anyone who is interested in improving their understanding of mental health.
